Food and Wine
Food and wine are emerging as significant industries in the region as people discover the tastes and quality on offer.
The Southern Flinders Ranges run on a north/south axis creating westerly slopes that run down to the waters of Spencer Gulf, and to the east, hectares of undulating arable farm land.
The climate varies within the region, from Mediterranean on the western slopes, to zero winter temperatures and forty degree summer temperatures in most other areas.
The Southern Flinders Ranges area epitomises the clean and green image, and supports in excess of 100 food, wine/beverage, and olive growing businesses.
Wirrabara Forrest has been a commercial fruit growing area since the 1890`s, and its higher than normal rainfall and rich soil supports a selection of produce including stone fruits, both dried and fresh, and pistachio nuts.
Native fruits and seeds are also harvested and readily available, and the wider region is renowned for growing full flavoured quandongs. 
Trend Drinks in Gladstone has been producing quality soft drinks since 1911, the latest range of flavours includes a honey drink made with local blue gum honey.
Golden North in Laura is another long standing manufacturer, and has been producing high quality ice cream since 1926. The company's origin was founded in freighting Wirrabara Forrest fruit to the miners in Broken Hill as far back as 1890.
The Old Bakery at Stone Hut is fast becoming an icon of the Southern Flinders Ranges. Fresh baked product and a selection of regional foods are available, plus the added bonus of sampling local wines.
Crystal Brook Natural Products provides blue gum honey collected from the Southern Flinders Ranges. The product range includes honey still in the wax comb and creamed honey.
In addition boutique wineries are providing cellar door sales.
